Almost all married couples tend to agree that they do argue with their spouses and to argue is a sign of a normal healthy relationship.

How you and your partner handle this arguments can undeniably determine the strength of your relationship, or if your relationship might go south.

Fortunately, there are some advice as shared by experts, that can help you achieve the goal of sustaining a healthier relationship with your spouse, in the events of an argument.

Both you and your partner have got to learn to argue in a healthy way and the first rule in healthier relationship arguing involves how you approach the argument.

It’s best to handle the core of the dispute as an issue to be discussed.

It’s also best to wait if you feel that it’s a potentially heated issue because if the timing’s ain’t right, it may aggravate the matter.

And remember to take a few moments before confronting, try to hold your breath for 20 seconds before approaching the topic if the temper pressure’s still high.

Calm yourself down first and do your best to explore the matter personally before addressing it with your partner.

Clearly state the problem and do your best not to criticize the other party’s flaw, instead state the matter as an extrenal problem that needs the attention from both of you.

After that hold your tongue from interrupting, listen and understand what the other party is trying to say.

You should also restate the response to be sure you’re looking at it clearly.

Both parties have to play the rules without shouting or displaying anger all the while to maintain a level of respect by avoiding name callings, threats or looking down upon the other party on their opinions.

When both sides have aired their grievances in a calm and orderly manner, it’s time for them to work on a solution and I mean if there’s a simple solution, do your best to find it together.

If a simple solution is available then agree on each respective roles in solving it. If not, and as long as the problem is not a wrecking one, then it’s best to let it go.

None of us would have to agree on every single perspective to have a lasting relationship. We just have to know how to handle and accept the differences between us and our partner repectfully and gracefully.
